The Unearthing

When in Oregon, some people were in shock that we spent part of our time in cemeteries. During our time, we were researching our family trees. Thanks to Rob's ipod touch having a cemetery map on it and paperwork that my father in law had with plot numbers on it, we were able to unearth the graves (somewhat literally) of Rob's great grandparents who brought the family over from Italy. Their graves are in Portland. One grave was covered partially with grass and one was fully covered. The first one, I practically stepped on and then saw that it said LIX. The second grace, we knew about where it was supposed to be and I just started digging at the grass and finally found her. What a gift to be able to uncover the graves.

We also found ourselves at Mountain View cemetery. This is where many of Rob's family are.

Grandpa Felix's parents. Peter was named after Peter. He had come across the ocean to America as a young boy.

It may seem odd to see gravestones but I think it is important to honor those family members that came before us.
