Well, over the last few months. We have been saving for years for a new house that was in Tacoma. The time had finally come, the money saved, and the housing market seemed wide open to us. The first time out, we found a great house. Less then a block from Peter's school and seemed to be a bigger version of our current home and newer. It was a HomePath Home (foreclosure) and had a list of things we would want to remodel but it would work.
We put in an offer on March 1st and waited and waited and waited and heard nothing. We finally found out that we were in a bidding war with 4 other couples. I stalked the website and found out that way that we were not the offer selected. We later found out that we did have the highest offer but because we already had a home, they did not choose us. After being devastated and going out one more time, we decided to give up. A day later, a great house popped up on Facebook from a realtor that I have watched for a long time. She had put up a gorgeous video of a 1966 1 story rambler with daylight basement. It had all the things we wanted except stairs and was a bit west of where we wanted but we could live with it. The next day it went on the market and we got in touch with the selling realtor to see it. Our realtor, who we love, was up the mountain skiing. By that evening, we were in a bidding war again. Luckily it was only one other family. It lasted a full day and we paid asking but that was well worth it to us. Then the 30 day wait.
Next step, get our house to sell. 2 weeks in, we put our house on the market. It went on on April 7th.
We thought we were going to have time to casually move into the new house. NO! Within an hour and a half of the house going on the market, people were going through it. Over 3 days, 15 people went through, 5 of which were offering. The house sold in 21 days and slightly over asking. It is now a rental that is currently empty.
Of course we have had some hiccups in the process. My baby girl got the stomach flu the night before we signed for the new house.
We had some beautiful weather
and some not beautiful weather. BTW, it's hail not snow.
Luckily, through all of the bumps, the kids were excited about the move. Being closer to school and friends.
Peter's artwork of our new house.
We had some great friends help us with the moving process. They were able to empty our whole storage unit in one day.
My birthday was moving day. What an amazing present I got this year.
All in all, things went well and we love living where we do.
The kids get to eat breakfast at home instead of in the car.
Carlie's favorite part of the house was her room is her closet.
My final look at the old house. It was a great house but not the right house for us long term.
